How to Take Care of Your Feet at Home

How to Take Care of Your Feet at Home | Shoelistic.com/Blog

It can be hard to remember to give your feet some love in the winter time. Poor things are usually cooped up in socks, tights and boots all day, without any attention. Now is the perfect time to take care of your feet though! Just like summer bodies are made in the winter, summer toes are made… yep, in the winter. Keep reading for some easy tips to take care of your feet at home.

Wash Them

Okay this may be a “duh” point, but you’d be surprised by how many people give little thought to scrubbing their feet in the shower. Don’t forget to give a little attention to your feet with some suds. Or even better, use an exfoliating soap with a pumice stone.

Dry Them

Yes, another tip that might seem obvious, but again, you’d be surprised. Before you slip into socks, be sure your feet are dry to guard against nasty things like Athlete’s Foot.

DIY Pedicure

No need to drop a lot of money on a pedicure, you can do one yourself at home. The basics are to soak feet in an Epsom salt bath, clip nails, exfoliate and moisturize. Get the full details in our post on How to DIY Pedicure.

Massage Your Feet

The next time you’re catching up on one of your favorite shows, break out the lotion! Preferably one that is super rich. Give each foot a mini massage then put on some socks to help the lotion seep in overnight.

Give Your Feet a break

… from heels that is. Take some strain off your feet and add some variety to your closet by swapping heels for flats, wedges and comfortable trainers, especially if you’re doing a ton of walking that day.

Wear Flip Flops in the Locker Room

One word: gross. Keep an extra pair of flip flops in your gym bag. There’s no telling what kind of germs are on the locker room floor or in the showers, so keep your feet safe with a simple pair of flip flops.

Shop for Shoes IRL Later in the Day

Your feet tend to swell as the day goes on so be sure to shop in the evening or late afternoon to ensure you don’t end up with shoes that are too small and painful.
